Chenrezig

Chenrezig, also known as Avalokitesvara, meaning "The One Who Gazes with Unwavering Compassion," is one of the most venerated Bodhisattvas, embodying the infinite compassion of all Buddhas. He is believed to hear and respond to the prayers of all sentient beings in moments of hardship and suffering. According to a well-known Buddhist legend, Chenrezig vowed never to rest until all beings were liberated from samsara. However, the enormity of his task caused his arms to shatter, and they transformed into multiple arms to reach and assist countless beings simultaneously. He is often depicted with eleven heads and a thousand arms radiating outward, symbolizing his boundless compassion and ability to help those in need.

In Tibetan Buddhism, Chenrezig is closely associated with the six-syllable mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum. Reciting this mantra, whether aloud or silently, is believed to invoke his compassionate energy and divine intervention. Recognized as the patron deity of Tibet, Chenrezig holds a significant place in Tibetan culture, and the Dalai Lama is considered his living incarnation.
