Shakyamuni Buddha

Siddhartha Gautama, honored through the Shakyamuni Buddha Statue, was born as the crown prince of the powerful Shakya Kingdom and raised to fulfill his royal destiny. However, at the age of 29, he encountered the profound suffering experienced by humanity. In a life-altering decision, he renounced his palace, royal garments, and wealth in pursuit of the truth behind human suffering and the path to liberation. After more than six years of deep meditation, ascetic discipline, and unwavering focus, he attained enlightenment and became the Buddha—Shakyamuni, the Sage of the Shakyas. This pivotal moment in spiritual history is powerfully symbolized by the Shakyamuni Buddha Statue, which represents the journey from worldly illusion to ultimate awakening. Following his enlightenment, Shakyamuni Buddha traveled to the Deer Park in Sarnath near Varanasi, India, where he delivered his first sermon, setting the wheel of Dharma in motion.
