Chenrezig

Chenresig, also known as Avalokiteshvara, is the Bodhisattva of Compassion in Mahayana Buddhism. He embodies the boundless compassion and loving-kindness of all Buddhas. Typically depicted with four arms, each representing different aspects of compassion and skillful means, Chenresig is often shown holding a lotus, a symbol of purity, and a mala (prayer beads), representing spiritual practice and focus. His eyes are often portrayed as open and compassionate, symbolizing his ability to perceive the suffering of all beings, and his commitment to alleviating that suffering. Sometimes, his multiple eyes and hands also convey his ability to assist and respond to countless beings simultaneously. Chenresig's figure and symbolism are a reminder of the universal desire for compassion and the dedication to helping others attain enlightenment. His iconography is revered for its profound spiritual significance, often inspiring meditative practices focused on kindness and empathy.
