Chenrezig

Chenrezig, known as Avalokiteshvara in Sanskrit, is the bodhisattva who embodies the boundless compassion of all Buddhas and holds a central place in Tibetan Buddhism as its patron deity. Often depicted with four arms, two in prayer and two holding a lotus and a crystal mala, Chenrezig symbolizes the union of wisdom and compassion in action. His mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum, is one of the most widely recited in the Buddhist world, believed to purify the mind and awaken loving-kindness. Chenrezig manifests in many forms, including the thousand-armed version to reach all beings, and is even considered to incarnate in human form, most notably as His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Devotion to Chenrezig is seen as a path to cultivating empathy, altruism, and spiritual awakening.
