Manjushri

Manjushri, known as the Bodhisattva of Transcendent Wisdom, is one of the most venerated deities in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. His name means “Gentle Glory,” and he embodies enlightened wisdom, intelligence, and clarity of thought. Manjushri is often depicted as a youthful figure seated on a lotus throne, symbolizing purity and the blossoming of insight. In his right hand, he wields a flaming sword—not of violence, but of discernment—used to cut through ignorance, delusion, and mental obscurations. In his left hand, he usually holds a Prajnaparamita Sutra (Book of Supreme Wisdom), resting on a lotus flower, representing the profound teachings of emptiness and ultimate truth.
