Marichi

Marichi, also spelled Marici, is a revered goddess and Bodhisattva of light and protection, honored across Hindu and Buddhist traditions. In Hinduism, she is one of the Saptarishi, a sage embodying divine wisdom, brightness, and cosmic energy. In Buddhism, especially in East Asian cultures like China, Korea, and Japan (where she is known as Marishiten), Marichi is deeply venerated as a guardian deity of warriors, invoked for protection, courage, and spiritual strength. Often depicted as a radiant, multi-armed figure riding a chariot pulled by boars or horses, Marichi symbolizes the dispelling of darkness, fear, and ignorance. Her global devotion includes rituals, mantra chanting, and festival celebrations, reflecting her powerful presence as a goddess of dawn, spiritual clarity, and fearless guidance across cultures.
