Green Tara

Green Tara is a beloved female Buddha in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism who embodies active compassion and swift protection. She is known as the “Savioress” because she responds instantly to the suffering of beings and helps them overcome both worldly and spiritual obstacles. Her vibrant green color symbolizes vitality and enlightened activity, and she is often depicted seated in a relaxed posture with her right leg extended, ready to step into action. In her left hand, she holds a blue lotus flower that represents purity and wisdom, while her right hand makes a gesture of generosity and reassurance. Green Tara is said to have emerged from a tear of Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion, and she vowed to always be reborn in female form to benefit sentient beings. Her mantra, Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha, is widely chanted to invoke her blessings, remove fears, and bring peace.
