About Guru Dragpo

Guru Dragpo, the wrathful form of Guru Padmasambhava, is revered in Vajrayana Buddhism as the powerful protector who destroys obstacles, ignorance, and negative forces that hinder spiritual growth. Known as the “Black Guru” or “Wrathful Guru,” he embodies compassionate fury, channeling fierce energy to safeguard practitioners and their dharma practice. One fascinating story tells of Guru Dragpo appearing in a remote Himalayan valley to confront a band of marauding spirits that were terrorizing villagers; with his thunderous roar and blazing aura, he subdued the spirits, turning their destructive energy into wisdom, and the villagers witnessed a miraculous transformation of their land from chaos to harmony.
