Guru Rinpoche

Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, is a revered figure in Tibetan Buddhism, celebrated as the "Second Buddha" for his role in spreading the Dharma across the Himalayas. Born from a lotus flower, his name means "Lotus-Born," symbolizing purity and enlightenment. Guru Rinpoche is credited with establishing Vajrayana Buddhism in Tibet and Bhutan, and his teachings, or terma (hidden treasures), continue to guide practitioners today.

Often depicted holding a vajra (thunderbolt) and a skull cup filled with wisdom nectar, Guru Rinpoche embodies wisdom, compassion, and the power to overcome obstacles. His union with his consort, Yeshe Tsogyal, represents the integration of wisdom and skillful means. Devotees honor him through mantras, such as "Om Ah Hum Vajra Guru Padma Siddhi Hum," and statues, which serve as powerful tools for meditation and blessings.
