Siddhartha Gautama

Siddhartha Gautama, the crown prince of the Shakya Kingdom, was destined to be a monarch, as per his royal father's wishes. However, at the age of 29, he encountered the immense suffering experienced by people, which led him to renounce his life of luxury and material wealth. Leaving behind his palace, opulent robes, and riches, Siddhartha embarked on a quest to understand the root of suffering and how to end it. After six years of intense meditation, self-discipline, and study, he attained enlightenment and became the Shakyamuni Buddha. Following this, he traveled to the deer park in Sarnath, Varanasi (Benares), where he shared his newfound wisdom, teaching the path to liberation and nirvana.
