Guru Dragpo

Guru Dragpo, also known as Guru Drakpo, is a wrathful manifestation of Guru Padmasambhava who appears in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism in order to protect the Dharma and eliminate obstacles on the path to enlightenment. He embodies fierce compassion and arises from the Revealed Treasure lineage attributed to Nyang Ral Nyima Ozer, and his practice is considered both a guru yoga and a meditational deity practice. With a blazing red body, one face, and three glaring eyes, he holds a black vajra in his right hand and a nine-headed scorpion in his left, while standing amidst flames of wisdom and wearing symbolic ornaments such as a garland of severed heads and a tiger skin. His terrifying form is not meant to instill fear but rather to symbolize the power to transform negativity into awakened awareness and to subdue harmful forces.
