Description

Traditional Manjushri Bodhisattva Statue | Handmade Wisdom Deity Art from Patan, Nepal

This beautifully handcrafted Manjushri Statue is a sacred embodiment of transcendent wisdom and is meticulously created by a master artisan from Nepal who uses the traditional lost-wax casting method. Our Manjushri statue presents a rare and symbolic form of Manjushri, which powerfully represents the act of cutting through ego and ignorance with the sword of wisdom.

The body of the statue is made from copper and is thoughtfully designed with a hollow inner chamber that allows practitioners to perform consecration rituals by placing sacred mantras or relics inside, thereby enhancing its spiritual potency. The statue is carefully polished with a gold amalgam, which is created by mixing pure 24k gold with mercury and then applying this mixture to the surface. Following this, the statue is fired in a high-heat process that evaporates the mercury and leaves behind a durable and radiant layer of real gold, a technique known as 24k fire gold gilding.

Please note: The statue in the photograph is the actual piece for sale, ensuring authenticity and exclusivity.

Manjushri

Manjushri is a revered bodhisattva in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, celebrated as the embodiment of transcendent wisdom. Often portrayed as a youthful figure radiating serenity and intelligence, he holds a flaming sword in his right hand to slice through ignorance and delusion, and a lotus bearing the Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra in his left to represent enlightened knowledge. Manjushri's significance extends into Nepalese culture, where legend says he drained the waters of a primordial lake to make the Kathmandu Valley habitable, establishing the sacred site of Swayambhunath. His image—sometimes riding a lion—symbolizes the fearless pursuit of truth, and his veneration continues to inspire seekers of clarity and insight throughout the Buddhist world.
