Amitabha Buddha

Amitabha Buddha, also known as Amitāyus (Buddha of Infinite Life) and Amituofo in Chinese, is one of the most revered figures in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. His name means "Infinite Light," and he symbolizes boundless compassion, unconditional love, and spiritual purity. Amitabha is the central figure of the Pure Land tradition, one of the most widely practiced schools of Buddhism in East Asia and the Himalayan regions.

According to Buddhist texts, Amitabha vowed to create a paradise known as Sukhavati, or the Pure Land of Bliss, where all beings could be reborn and achieve enlightenment free from the suffering and distractions of the human world. Devotees of Amitabha chant his mantra, “Namo Amituofo” or “Namo Amitabha Buddha”, to purify negative karma, overcome fear of death, and invite spiritual blessings.
