Guru Rinpoche

Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, is a legendary master who played a vital role in establishing Vajrayana Buddhism in Tibet during the eighth century. He is believed to have been born miraculously from a lotus flower in the kingdom of Oddiyana and was fully enlightened from birth. Invited by King Trisong Detsen, Guru Rinpoche helped subdue negative forces and spirits that resisted the spread of Buddhism, allowing the construction of Tibet’s first monastery at Samye. He taught profound tantric practices and concealed spiritual treasures called terma to be discovered by future generations. Guru Rinpoche is honored as the “Second Buddha” and is especially revered in Bhutan, Nepal, and the Himalayan regions for his compassion, wisdom, and miraculous powers.
