Amitayus

Amitayus, known as the Buddha of Infinite Life, is a celestial embodiment of longevity and spiritual vitality in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, closely associated with Amitabha Buddha. He is often depicted in radiant form, wearing regal ornaments and holding a vase filled with amrita, the nectar of immortality, which symbolizes his power to bestow long life and eliminate suffering. Unlike Amitabha, who is portrayed in monastic attire, Amitayus appears as a blissful, crown-wearing figure seated in meditation, and his image is frequently invoked during rituals for healing and life extension. Devotees chant his mantra—Om Amarani Jiwantiye Soha—to purify negative karma, strengthen life force, and accumulate merit, especially in times of illness or spiritual adversity.
