Milarepa

Milarepa (1052–1135) is one of the most revered figures in Tibetan Buddhism, celebrated for his dramatic life story and profound spiritual teachings. Born into a wealthy family in western Tibet, his early life was shattered by betrayal and loss, leading him down a dark path of vengeance through black magic. After causing great harm, Milarepa was consumed by guilt and sought redemption through the Dharma.

He became a disciple of Marpa Lotsawa, a strict and enlightened teacher who subjected him to intense trials to purify his karma. Through unwavering dedication, Milarepa mastered advanced tantric practices such as Tummo (inner heat) and Mahamudra, eventually attaining enlightenment in a single lifetime—a rare feat in Buddhist tradition.
