Vajrasattva

Vajrasattva, meaning "Diamond Being," is a revered bodhisattva in Vajrayana Buddhism known for his transformative power to purify karma and spiritual impurities. Often visualized in radiant white, he holds a vajra and bell—symbols of compassion and wisdom—while embodying the union of these enlightened qualities. Central to his practice is the recitation of the Hundred Syllable Mantra, used to cleanse negativity and restore broken vows, especially during preliminary practices like Ngöndro. Associated with the blissful sambhogakāya form of Buddhahood, Vajrasattva appears frequently in Tibetan and Newar Buddhist rituals, both as a solo figure and alongside his consort Vajragarvi.
