Ucchusma

Ucchusma, also known as Vajra Krodha Mahābala Ucchuṣma, is a wrathful deity in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism revered for his power to purify defilements. Manifested from the heart of Shakyamuni Buddha, he is considered a Wisdom King and a fierce form of Vajrapani, embodying the transformative fire that converts negative emotions, especially lust and anger, into enlightened awareness. His iconography often features a wrathful face, sharp fangs, and crossed hands in a threatening mudrā, symbolizing his role in destroying impurities and protecting sacred vows (samaya). Ucchusma is invoked in esoteric practices to remove obstacles on the spiritual path and is even believed to dispel malevolent energies.
