Shakyamuni Buddha

Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama, is the historical founder of Buddhism and one of the most revered spiritual figures in human history. He was born as a prince in the Shakya clan in present-day Nepal during the fifth or sixth century BCE. After witnessing the realities of suffering through encounters with old age, illness, and death, he chose to leave his royal life and began a journey in search of spiritual liberation. He practiced intense meditation and discipline for many years and eventually attained enlightenment while sitting beneath the Bodhi tree in the sacred place of Bodh Gaya. From that moment onward, he became the Buddha, which means the awakened one, and dedicated his life to teaching the Dharma. His teachings offered a path to freedom through moral conduct, focused meditation, and deep understanding.
