Yeshe Tsogyal & Mandarava

Yeshe Tsogyal and Mandarava, revered as the two principal consorts of Guru Padmasambhava, embody the highest realization of wisdom and compassion in Tibetan Buddhism. Yeshe Tsogyal, often called the “Mother of Tibetan Buddhism,” was a Tibetan princess who became Guru Rinpoche’s foremost disciple and a fully enlightened Dakini, entrusted with concealing spiritual treasures (termas) for future generations. Her life symbolizes resilience, devotion, and the transcendence of suffering into enlightenment. Mandarava, born as an Indian princess, renounced royal life in pursuit of spiritual awakening and attained the rainbow body after extensive practice and guidance from Guru Padmasambhava. Together, these two enlightened women represent the union of wisdom and skillful means. Yeshe Tsogyal as the embodiment of boundless compassion and Mandarava as the essence of pure wisdom, both playing vital roles in spreading the teachings of Vajrayana Buddhism across the Himalayas.
