Green Tara

Green Tara, known as Syamatara in Sanskrit, is one of the most beloved deities in Tibetan Buddhism and is revered as the embodiment of active compassion, swift protection, and divine feminine energy. She is considered a female Bodhisattva and is often referred to as the “Mother of Liberation,” representing the compassionate action of all Buddhas.

Green Tara is typically depicted seated gracefully on a lotus throne with her right leg extended, symbolizing her readiness to spring into action to help sentient beings. Her left hand is often in the protective mudra (gesture), while her right hand displays the gesture of giving (varada mudra), showing her constant willingness to offer aid. A blooming lotus flower, held in one or both hands, symbolizes purity and enlightenment arising from the murky waters of samsara.
