This Mahasiddha Virupa statue is a one-of-a-kind piece of Nidhiratna's exclusive collection and never to be recreated once sold. Every detail was hand-shaped in wax by a veteran Newari artist before casting, so every proportions and ornamentation belong to a single sculptor's hand rather than a repeated mold. The sculpture portrays Virupa, one of the 84 great tantric masters of Buddhism, in his classic semi-wrathful form: long hair and beard beneath a skull crown and bone ornaments, a vajra raised in his right hand and a skull cup cradled in his left. He wears a tiger-skin robe at the waist and sits at ease upon a double-lotus throne covered in deer skin.

This Exclusive statue is casted using lost-wax method in Nepal. Once cast, the copper alloy returns to the artist's bench for meticulous 3D hand-carving, then undergoes a controlled chemical and aging treatment that develops a oxidized copper patina resistant to fading or flaking over time. The crown, jewelry and tiger-skin are finished with inlaid semi-precious gemstones and acrylic stones.

Revered as one of the 84 Mahasiddhas across Tibetan Buddhism, Virupa is remembered for realizing that ordinary rules and appearances dissolve before an enlightened mind. He remains especially significant to the Sakya lineage's Lamdre teachings.
