Black Dzambhala

The Black Dzambhala, or Kubera in some traditions, is a deity associated with wealth, abundance, and protection in Vajrayana Buddhism. Known as one of the Five Dzambhalas, Black Dzambhala is particularly venerated for his power to remove poverty and financial obstacles, as well as for his role in warding off negative influences and spiritual threats. This fierce manifestation of Dzambhala is believed to be a compassionate Bodhisattva who bestows prosperity upon those in need and encourages generosity. His dark color represents the powerful, protective nature of his blessings, with offerings made to him often including black sesame seeds, incense, and water, symbolizing the purification of financial difficulties and spiritual impurities. The statue’s intricate design typically portrays him holding a mongoose that spits out precious jewels, emphasizing his role in granting material and spiritual wealth.
