Traditional Handcrafted Silk Thangka Brocade Frame

Present your sacred thangka painting with the elegance and authenticity of a traditional Himalayan silk brocade frame, handcrafted to honor the rich heritage of Buddhist art. Made from high-quality handwoven silk, this decorative brocade enhances the beauty of Buddhist paintings and prints while providing a timeless traditional setting for spiritual displays.

At Nidhiratna, each thangka brocade frame is carefully custom-made by skilled artisans according to your selected thangka size. Every detail is thoughtfully arranged to create a balanced and graceful presentation, with approximately 3 to 5 business days required for the handcrafted preparation.

How to Select the Correct Brocade Size

The size options available on this product page refer to the dimensions of the thangka painting or print that the brocade is designed for, not the final outer dimensions of the completed frame.

Size Selection Examples

  • If your thangka measures 15 x 20 inches, please select the 15 x 20 inch brocade size option.
  • If your exact thangka size is not listed, choose the closest available size. For example, a 17 x 23 inch thangka can be matched with an 18 x 24 inch brocade option, and we will adjust the brocade accordingly.

If you are ordering only the brocade frame without a thangka or print from Nidhiratna, please provide the exact measurements of the painted or printed area of your artwork, excluding any surrounding borders or margins.

Authentic Tibetan Thangka Brocade Design

Created according to traditional Tibetan Buddhist display methods, this silk brocade frame follows sacred proportions and symbolic color arrangements that enhance the spiritual presence of the thangka. The upper section is traditionally designed in proportion to the lower section, creating a harmonious balance around the central artwork.

The inner borders feature traditional colored cords, often in red and yellow, symbolizing the beauty and radiance of a sacred rainbow. Carefully stitched decorative threads, detailed side panels, and elegant outer edging add depth and refinement to the overall design while preserving the traditional appearance of Himalayan thangka presentation.

Traditional Decorative Elements

The front curtain or veil is traditionally crafted in yellow, with options featuring intricate red patterns. Two flowing red ribbons extend from the upper section, completing the classic Tibetan Buddhist aesthetic. Additional decorative panels with symbolic motifs or traditional color patterns may also be incorporated into the lower section, representing qualities such as growth, peace, harmony, attraction, and spiritual transformation.

Bring Sacred Himalayan Tradition Into Your Space

Ideal for Buddhist thangka paintings, meditation rooms, home altars, temples, and spiritual collections, this handcrafted silk brocade frame offers both beauty and protection for your sacred artwork. Each piece reflects the dedication of Himalayan artisans and preserves the timeless tradition of presenting Buddhist art with reverence and elegance.
