Black Dzambhala
Black Dzambhala, also known as Jambhala or Kubera, is a powerful wealth deity in Tibetan Buddhism who embodies both fierce compassion and transformative abundance. He is often depicted standing tall with a pot-bellied body and wrathful expression, while holding a skullcup filled with nectar in his right hand and a mongoose named Nehulay in his left hand that spits out jewels to symbolize the endless flow of prosperity. His black color represents the ability to absorb and transmute negative energies into positive outcomes, and his posture stepping on a figure that signifies greed and ego illustrates his role in overcoming inner obstacles to wealth and spiritual growth. Black Dzambhala is believed to be an emanation of Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion, and his practice is said to remove poverty while also fostering generosity, ethical conduct, and spiritual well-being.
