Description

Meditational Green Tara Sculpture from Nepal | Handicrafted Buddhist Artistry

This Enthroned Green Tara Statue is hand-cast in Nepal by master artisans continuing an unbroken Newari tradition of sacred metalwork. Crafted from a solid copper alloy and enhanced with radiant layers of gold fire-gilding. The Mother of Liberation is depicted with a serene gold-painted face and adorned with five-jeweled crown. Seated in the graceful Lalitasana pose upon a lotus throne, her right hand extends in the Varada mudra of blessing while her left cradles a blooming lotus embodying her role as swift protector. The statue rises before an ornate floral halo carved with celestial dakinis, a nagakanya, and a Garuda at its crown, their presence deepening the sacred atmosphere around her.

The base bears her mantra, Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svaha, inscribed in Tibetan uchen script, a timeless invocation calling upon Green Tara to dispel fear and remove obstacles from the path of practice. Every surface, from swirling robes to the gem-set halo, reflects the devotion and precision of traditional sculpture, making this piece far more than an art object. This meditational masterwork offers a living focal point for practice, invoking protection and compassionate presence in any sacred space.

About Green Tara

Green Tara, also known as the "Mother Tara & Swift Liberator," is a revered celestial Buddha in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, embodying the active energy of enlightened compassion. According to sacred texts, she manifested from a tear of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Infinite Compassion, taking a vow to alleviate suffering and protect beings from all fears. Her radiant green form represents the vibrant flowering of wisdom and compassionate action in the world. Her teachings emphasize immediate response to suffering through the powerful mantra "Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha", which devotees chant to invoke her blessings of protection, courage, and liberation from obstacles.
