About Shakyamuni Buddha

Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama, was born as the crown prince of the powerful Shakya Kingdom and raised in royal luxury by his father’s wishes. Despite his privileged life, at the age of 29, Shakyamuni Buddha encountered the harsh realities of human suffering, which deeply moved him. Renouncing his wealth, royal status, and opulent lifestyle, he set out on a profound spiritual quest to uncover the root cause of suffering and its remedy. After six years of intense meditation, ascetic practices, and deep contemplation, he attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, becoming the Buddha—the awakened one. Following his enlightenment, Shakyamuni Buddha delivered his first teachings at the Deer Park in Sarnath, near Varanasi, India, sharing the path to liberation and the Four Noble Truths, which continue to guide millions on their spiritual journey today.
