About Kalachakra
Kalachakra, meaning “Wheel of Time,” is one of the most complex and esoteric deities in Tibetan Buddhism, symbolizing the cyclical nature of time and the universe. As a wrathful form of a Buddha, Kalachakra is often depicted with multiple heads, arms, and legs, which signify his ability to perceive all realms of existence and his mastery over time and the elements. He represents the intricate connection between the macrocosm of the universe and the microcosm of human existence. The Kalachakra teachings, originating from India and introduced to Tibet in the 11th century, are regarded as a pathway to enlightenment that focuses on world peace and personal spiritual transformation. The Kalachakra deity is also a central figure in the Kalachakra Tantra, one of the most advanced and highly revered practices in Tibetan Buddhism, symbolizing the union of wisdom and compassion.
