Atisa Dipankara Shrijnana

Atisa was a revered 11th-century Buddhist master and scholar, celebrated as a key figure in the revival and spread of Buddhism in Tibet. Born in the kingdom of Bengal, Atisa dedicated his life to the study and practice of Buddhist teachings, traveling extensively across India to learn from eminent masters. Renowned for his profound wisdom, moral discipline, and compassionate guidance, he played a pivotal role in establishing the Kadampa school, emphasizing ethical conduct, meditation, and the cultivation of Bodhicitta—the mind of enlightenment. Atisa’s teachings, compiled in works such as Bodhipathapradipa (“Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment”), continue to inspire practitioners, offering a clear and systematic approach to the path of spiritual awakening and the realization of ultimate liberation.
